Our Work

The World Affairs Council of Tacoma is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to promote public understanding of world affairs and to enhance the ability of its members to engage in a global community.  We feature guest speakers such as diplomats, academics, business professionals, and journalists.  Speakers provide the opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions about world affairs.

Join Us

We create and promote activities to enhance public awareness and interest in international, cultural, economic, and political issues -- especially those with relevance to the greater Tacoma community. We provide insight into the world today through special guest speakers, travel programs, and unique networking events.  Click below for details on WACT Memberships.

WACT NEWS

LUA (4).jpg
The World Affairs Council of Tacoma proudly congratulates Fa‘aluaina “Lua” Pritchard, a valued WACT board member, on the celebration of her 70th birthday and the extraordinary recognition she received from the City of Tacoma. In honor of her decades of leadership, advocacy, and service to the community—particularly within the Pacific Islander community—Mayor Victoria Woodards presented an official proclamation declaring November 22nd as “Lua Pritchard Day.”

We celebrate Lua not only as a pillar of Tacoma, but also as a dedicated leader whose lifelong commitment to uplifting others continues to inspire our city and our work at WACT.
