Please note all in-person WACT events are currently on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic - this includes Travel Talk and the WACT Happy Hour. We will update you when we have further news on in-person events, so make sure to sign up for our email list or follow us on our social media channels. In the meantime, make sure to check out our virtual events, all held via Zoom. Thanks!
Are
you interested in discussing America's role in the world? The World
Affairs Council of Tacoma has started a discussion group focused
on U.S. foreign policy, to be conducted through Zoom. You don't need to
be an expert to participate, just someone who is interested in learning
more about topical issues and exchanging views with fellow citizens. Sign up, read a couple informative (yet accessible!) articles, and discuss what you read with the experts - expand your knowledge of foreign policy.
This event occurs every other month on the first Thursday at 7 pm via Zoom. You can view a playlist of our previous Global Impact events on our YouTube channel.
Book ClubOur virtual book club is open to all! Its theme up to June 2021 is The Traveler’s World and features books on travel or adventure narratives. Join our host, Beth Ahlstrom, on a unique journey into traveling (and adventuring!) through reading. |
WAC Tacoma Happy HourDo you want to talk about current events, but are greeted by friends with an eye roll? This event is in person and occurs monthly on the last Tuesday from 6 pm to 7 pm, or until whenever you get all the world issues out of your system! |
Travel Talk
Every month in the fall and spring we present our Travel Talk series. This engaging series takes place in Tacoma and features provocative speakers, fascinating countries, and important issues from around the globe. Members and the public are invited to attend Travel Talk free of charge. All talks are hosted by RAIN Incubator unless otherwise stated.
Each presentation begins at 7:00 PM and runs until roughly 8:30 PM. |
