About the event

Dr. Khalil will explore the economic dimensions of climate change, discussing both the financial costs associated with climate-related events and the broader consequences for societies, economies, and individuals. The talk will delve into economic theories, policy implications, and the role of individuals in addressing climate change.

Dr. Sana Khalil is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Washington Tacoma. Her research spans labor and development economics, environmental resource management, and applied econometrics, with a focus on addressing social and economic inequalities. Dr. Khalil earned her doctoral degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in September 2022, specializing in labor and development economics. Her teaching and research experiences extend across diverse global landscapes, including China, Pakistan, and the U.S. In 2020, she completed a Fulbright doctoral fellowship, leading expansive projects that addressed social and economic inequalities in Pakistan. Notable research areas included employment discrimination, the dynamics of women’s paid work, and sustainable resource management in the region.
