Life in a Sahelian Village: Based on the Memoir "Growing Mangos in the Desert"
DR. KATIE BAIRD, Professor of Economics, University of Washington - Tacoma
Set in the Mauritanian Sahel, Baird's story chronicles her three years in the village of Cive, and the events that have transpired there since. Her story underscores the particularly ways that Sahelian communities are vulnerable to environmental change, political turmoil, and violence.
