WACT Foreign Policy Discussion Group: October Meeting

  • Thursday, October 01, 2020
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Zoom (please RSVP for link)

Registration is closed

Are you interested in discussing America's role in the world?  The World Affairs Council of Tacoma is starting a monthly discussion group focused on U.S. foreign policy, to be conducted through Zoom. You don't need to be an expert to participate, just someone who is interested in learning more about topical issues and exchanging views with fellow citizens. While future meetings will have a specific regional or thematic focus, the first discussion will be looking at the current status of America's role in the world more generally - but feel free to bring up any specific issues that are especially important to you!

The October discussion will be led by Professor John Lucas, a political and social science instructor at Pierce College. In order to get the discussion started, here is a very short article to read:

Joseph Nye, "Is Trump a Turning Point?"

If you would like some additional background on the status of the international order, here are two readings from Foreign Affairs.  They are free, but you need to register with the site:

Nadia Schadlow, "The End of American Illusion"
Richard Haass, "Present at the Disruption"
