The Consular Association Reception (CAR) is an annual event the World Affairs Council of Tacoma hosts in honor of members of the Washington Consular Association, individuals who serve their home country's interests and further global development across Washington.
Hosted since 1988, the event celebrates the relationships that position Washington as a leading state in economic, trade and cultural exchange. The CAR honors the ties that bind us and the individuals dedicated to this work.
This year we are thrilled to host the 30th annual CAR at the Tacoma Art Museum where the exhibit Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Their Circle: French Impressionism and the Northwest will be available for attendees to view. Featuring exactly fifty works of art, the exhibit showcases how the work of French Impressionists and their immediate precursors made their way to Northwest public and private collections. It includes paintings by American and Northwest artists to illustrate the spread of Impressionism across the country. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication including essays by TAM Executive Director David Setford and TAM curator Margaret Bullock, as well as an online listing of French Impressionist works currently in Northwest public collections.
