Global Classroom Global Security North Korea and Nuclear Diplomacy

Global Security: North Korea and Nuclear Diplomacy is the topic of our April Global Classroom. Jointly hosted by UW Tacoma's Institute for Global Engagement (IGE), the SIAS Division of Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs (PPPA) and World Affairs Council Tacoma, Global Classroom is an interactive speaker series on global issues that matter.

Join our expert panel of speakers as we learn about the history of the Korean peninsula, its present political realities, the role media plays in soft power diplomatic strategy and whether North Korea's capabilities pose a serious threat to the United States.

Speakers include:

General Stephen Lanza (retired), former commander at Joint Base Lewis McChord

Ji-Hyun Ahn, PhD, Assistant Professor of Communications, School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, University of Washington Tacoma

Robert J Pekkanen, PhD, Professor, Political Science and Sociology, Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington

Moderator:

Clint Work, Ph.D. candidate and a Korean Studies specialist with the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington Seattle
