In August of 2013, Jon Maes left Tacoma to embark on a 2-year overseas journey for an Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree in higher education research and innovation studies (MARIHE). With the first semester at Danube University Krems, Austria, his explorations took him to the University of Tampere, Finland; Beijing Normal University, China; and University of Applied Sciences Osnabrueck, Germany.
Along the way, he had many opportunities to experience local cultures, see amazing sites, learn from professors and colleagues from around the world, and make lifelong friends. However, it is the family of eighteen other grad students he studied and lived with that is most priceless.
Through photos and stories, Jon will share his adventures across Eurasia and general insights for anyone that may be interested in education abroad. Time permitting, Jon will also provide a glimpse into the activities that he and the Tacoma Community College International Programs team are currently engaged in.
